Mechanical , Biomechanical design service
I have worked on projects that just started with a verbal idea, a napkin sketch and sometimes even a drawing. I enjoy solving problems.
I have 24 years of experience in the Biomedical field. I have an extensive background in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and through my employer have worked on projects for NASA. I have AUTOCAD and Solid Works experience and a strong background in machining, welding, and fabrication.
This is a dual-track virtual treadmill I designed and fabricated, mainly of aluminum. The unit was controlled by software (created by others) that would follow various types of terrain displayed on a screen in front of the treadmill. Changes in elevation and angle and the ability to mimic steps were initiated via electromechanical actuators. Each tread had a separate motor and controller which could simulate the experience of running along a gradual curve.

I was the lead designer in a research project funded to evaluate wheelchair restraint systems used in public transit. Our group conducted actual crash testing of various wheelchairs and systems at Honda’s testing facility in central Ohio. As a result, we were able to design a restraint system that was superior in many ways to the devices that were available at that time. The testing simulated a frontal impact at 20 mph.
I built three wooden rowing shells; the oldest one,18 years ago, is still going strong.
Some of my work: 22' 6" Kingfisher built from plans supplied by Wooden Boat Magazine.

A 24' 6" double of my own design.
